Experiencing a trauma can change or affect the way a child perceives the world. Whether it is a single event, such as a natural disaster, a fire, or an automobile accident, or a more complex trauma like prolonged exposure to abuse, attachment issues, or community violence, a child’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be impacted and filtered through this perspective. This presentation will delve into the ways in which trauma presents in children . It will also examine the influence of trauma on behavior and offer strategies and approaches to promote a culture of care that is trauma informed and child centered. The presentation will also include information about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
